Job Summary

The accounting specialist completes assigned tasks and duties for the accounting department based on the guided policies, regulations, and applicable service program manuals. The accounting specialist assists the accounting department and enhances its proper functioning.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepares and submits accounting statements to the Coordinator of Accounting Services by collecting data; analyzing and investigating variances; summarizing data, information, and trends.
  • Under the guidance of Coordinator of Accounting Services, complies with applicable state and federal financial audit requirements through consistent adherence to appropriate regulations and program manuals.
  • Under the supervision of Coordinator of Accounting Services, prepares required information for billable invoices in accordance with established requirements and deadlines.
  • Advising Coordinator of Accounting Services on required actions pertaining to the company's accounting operations.
  • Under the supervision of Coordinator of Accounting Services, assembling data for accounting and financial processes as needed.
  • Maintains relevant and current knowledge of the accounting industry by participating in continuing education studies and events.
  • Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Accounting Services, gathers and interprets financial data.
  • Identifies and reports operational issues to the Coordinator of Accounting Services; applying financial principles and practices.
  • Under the supervision and guidance of Coordinator of Accounting Services, prepares special reports as assigned.
  • Maintains relevant knowledge required for the position by remaining current with financial regulations and accepted practices; participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional networking events as applicable.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 6 months of experience in the accounting field
  • High School Diploma or higher
  • proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel
  • knowledge of operating standard office equipment
  • excellent communication skills are written and verbal
  • ability to prioritize projects and strong problem-solvingĀ 
  • Payroll
